Patna : All the trains and flights from here to Delhi Saturday were full of thousands of JD-U workers and leaders going to the national capital for the party’s ‘Adhikar rally’ seeking special economic status for Bihar.

The Janata Dal-(United) led by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar is holding the rally at Delhi’s Ramlila ground Sunday to put pressure on the central government for granting a special category status to Bihar or “Bihar ka Haq” (Bihar’s right).

Nitish Kumar has left for Delhi Saturday along with party leaders for the Adhikar rally (rally for rights).

“The main attraction of the rally will be Nitish Kumar and his speech for Bihar’s development via special category status (demand),” party MP R.C. Singh told IANS.

“There is no place in almost all the Delhi bound trains. They are full of capacity with JD-U leaders and workers,” a railway official said.

The situation was more or less similar for Delhi-bound flights “All flights from Patna since Saturday morning till night are full of JD-U leaders, who had reserved the seats over a month ago,” an official at Patna airport said.

Dozens of ministers, legislators, MPs and other leaders were already camping in Delhi for over a week to make necessary arrangements for the rally.

“They are busy to monitor the preparations for the rally and to mobilize support among millions of people from Bihar living in the national capital region,” JD-U leader Neeraj Kumar said.

The party has engaged a group of IIT graduates to use social media to mobilize support.

They have also started a “Bihar ka Haq” campaign on Facebook to drum up the support for the rally. “The campaign’s account has become a big hit on Twitter and YouTube,” said JD-U leader Sanjay Jha.

Nitish Kumar has repeatedly expressed his happiness after Finance Minister P. Chidambaram stated the need for a re-look into demand of special category status to Bihar and other backward states.

Last year, Nitish Kumar had organised an ‘Adhikar rally’ in Patna to demand special category status for Bihar.
