Suryanelli case: Brinda Karat demands PJ Kurien’s resignation amid protests

Thiruvananthapuram  : : Demanding a reinvestigation into the 1996 Suryanelli rape case in view of a charge levelled against Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman PJ Kurien by the victim, the CPI-M’s women wing All-India Democratic Women’s Federation today took out a march to the state Assembly in Thiruvananthapuram.

The opposition LDF also stepped up pressure on the UDF government by walking out of the Kerala Assembly.

Meanwhile, communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) leader Brinda Karat said that Kurien should step down from his post and there must be a reinvestigation since there is fresh evidence in the case.
