    February 10, 2012 10:40:06 IST

The residences and business premises of two former DMK ministers in Tamil Nadu were raided Friday morning for allegedly having assets disproportionate to their known sources of income, said an official.

The Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC) conducted the raids at different places in the state belonging to former ministers K.R. Periakaruppan and A. Tamilarasi and their associates, a DVAC official said.

The residence of Periakaruppan here and in Sivaganga district and that of his associates, relatives were raided.

Periakaruppan was the minister for Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowment in the DMK government that was voted out of power in the state last year.

Similarly DVAC officials conducted raids at the residence of former Adi Dravidar Welfare minister Tamilarasi in Madurai.

DVAC has earlier raided the residences of several former DMK ministers, including D. Duraimurugan, K.N. Nehru, T.M. Anbarasan, K. Ponmudi, N. Suresh Rajan, Pongalur N. Palanisamy, M.R.K. Panneerselvam and K.K.S.S.R. Ramachandran and N.K.K.P.Raja since the AIADMK came to power in Tamil Nadu in May 2011.
