Ajmal Kasab verdict on Feb 21
Mumbai : The Bombay High Court on Monday said it would pronounce a verdict on Feb 21 on confirmation of death sentence awarded to Pakistani terrorist Ajmal Kasab for 26/11 terror attacks.
The court would also decide on the day on ?Kasab’s appeal against his conviction.
The two-men bench of Bombay High Court, justices Ranjana Desai and R V More said they were ready with the judgement, but because of huge paper works and much compilation they would pronounce the verdict on Feb 21.
The court will also announce its judgement on the appeal filed by the Maharashtra Government challenging acquittal of co-accused Faheem Ansari and Sabauddin Ahmed in the same case.?
The trial court had set them free on the ground that evidences against were not adequate.
Kasab was convicted in May 2010 for waging war against the nation, murder, and conspiracy, based on eyewitness testimonies, CCTV footage, photographs, mobile records and forensic evidence.
On Sep 28, Kasab had moved the Bombay High Court challenging the death sentence awarded to him.
Kasab’s lawyers argued for a life sentence instead of death penalty, which will only make him a martyr.
