PM bats for liberalization policies
Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Thursday said the government’s economic policies are not wrong, but they need to be implemented more purposefully.
He said strong purposeful regulatory systems are required to implement the good policies, as the PM strongly batted for the economic policies and expressed his happiness about the state of the economy.
“I admit they are not as effective,” he told Rajya Sabha on the Motion of Thanks on the President’s address.
He said the challenge before the government is to implement the policies without sacrificing liberalisation.
He said inflation will come down soon.
“We have adequate food grain stock,” the PM said.
He said his government is committed to transparency and hoped that the Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) will unravel the truth about the 2G scam.
He reiterated that no spectrum was given to Devas in the S-band deal between Antrix, the commercial arm of ISRO, and the former.
He also said that effective steps were taken after the 26/11 attack.
