Employment plan for Kashmir to be unveiled Thursday

Amid high expectations of the youth, the Experts’ Group on jobs plan for the unemployed in trouble-torn Jammu and Kashmir state, which was constituted by the Prime Minister after last year’s protests in the region, will release its report on Thursday.

C.Rangarajan, Chairman, Prime Minister?s Economic Advisory Council and Chairman, Expert Group on the jobs plan will release the report in presence of Chief Minister Omar Abbdullah at SKICC here.

The unemployed youths are expecting a lot from this report and hope that there will be something for them in the report.

An educated unemployed youth from Srinagar, Irshad Ahmed, said that he is hopeful this time because this report has been coming after an unrest.

“I am sure the Central Government will certainly deliver this time,” he said.

Like Irshad other unemployed youths are also expecting a lot from this report.

?Sher-i-Kashmir Employment package was merely an eye-wash as it didn?t give us anything. I am hopeful this time and we are expecting a lot from this report,” a post graduate unemployed youth from Jawahar Nagar told IBNS.

The six-member panel was formulated by the Prime Minister in August 2010 in an effort to enhance employment opportunities in the state and formulate a job plan involving both the public and private sectors.

C.Rangarajan, and other members of the group had held extensive interaction with various associations and representatives of trade and industry.

Noted personalities like N R Narayana Murthy, Tarun Das, T Nanda Kumar, Shakeel Qalander and Bharat Vyas are the other members of the group.
