School going girl raped in South Goa
A school going student was allegedly raped by a youth at South Goa?s Colva beach on Tuesday night, police said Wednesday.
According to the police, the youth approached the 11-year-old victim when she along with her elder sibling was waiting for a bus in Margao.
The accused, who is said to be in his 20s, lured both sisters to take them for a walk on the beach.
Soon thereafter, the victim?s elder sister went to a nearby place with her friend for some time instructing the former to remain alert. However, till the elder sister could come back, the youth had pulled her into the bushes and raped her. He is absconding since then.
The girl?s parents have filed a complaint at the Colva police station and the youth has been booked for rape and under Goa Children?s Act, 2003.
Police however refused to disclose the identity of the accused.
Women?s organization Bailancho Ekvott has condemned the incident accusing that Goa is not any longer safe for women, especially along the coastal belt.
