Kochi Tuskers won against Kolkata Knight Riders
Kochi Tuskers Kerala halted the winning run of Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) as they defeated the home team by six runs at the Eden Gardens here on Wednesday night.
Chasing Kochi’s score of 132 runs for the loss of seven wickets, KKR could only manage 126 runs for the loss of nine wickets in their quota of 20 overs.
Manoj Tiwary remained the highest scorer for the KKR with his fighting knock of 46 runs where he hit two boundaries and two over boundaries.
KKR lost their dependable batsman Jacque Kallis at his personal score of 6 and then kept on losing wickets at regular intervals.
G Gambhir (3). Shakib al Hasan (2), EJG Morgan (10) Yusuf Pathan (8) failed with their willow, driving the home side to their first loss after three consecutive victories.
For the visitors, Rudra Pratap Singh and spinner R Jadeja scalped two wickets each.
While Vinay Kumar, Powar and Sri Lankan star spinner Muralitharan shared one wicket each in the game.
Earlier, batting first, Kochi scored 132 for the loss of seven wickets with R. Jadeja scoring the highest run in the innings with his well made 29 runs from 18 deliveries that included three sixers and one boundary.
Kochi had the best possible start with both their star openers clicking well with the willow.
McCullum (23) and M Jayawardene (25) gave their side the best possible start with thier opening partnership of 49 runs.
Yusuf Pathan and Shakib al Hasan turned out to be the best bowlers for KKR on Wednesday evening as they shared 3 wickets each in the game.
Pathan took three wickets in his four overs by giving away only 20 runs besides bowling a
maiden over.
It was truly a disappointing night for SRK and Kolkata at the less-crowded Eden Gardens with their team losing the match against Kochi.
On Wednesday, the picture of Eden looked quite disappointing with maximum of its seat remaining empty.
