Nato helicopter fires at Pakistani troopers
Hardly had the controversy over the covert operation in Pakistan to kill Osama bin Laden subsided, a helicopter of the NATO fired at a Pakistani check post on the border area in North Waziristan on Tuesday, injuring two troopers.
The helicopter firing wounded two soldiers, Pakistan’s military spy agency ISI said, according to media reports.
According to Geo TV quoting Intelligence officials, the incident occurred early morning at Datta Khel area.
Intelligence official said several Pakistani helicopters took off from Miranshah, the main town in North Waziristan, towards the site of the attack for rescue purposes, Geo TV said.
North Waziristan is the hub of the Haqqani network, an independent insurgent group in Afghanistan and Pakistan that is closely allied with the Taliban.
US drone attacks were frequent in this area.
