Kolkata rape: Police custody for three accused till March 3

Three people arrested for gangraping a 37-year-old Anglo-Indian woman in a moving car here earlier this month have been sent to police custody till March 3 by a city court, police said Sunday.

“The accused (Sumit Bajaj, Nasser Ali and Ruhman Khan) have been sent to 14 day police custody. Though only one person committed the rape, the others had assisted him. So, the case of gangrape (was filed),” Deputy Commissioner (Detective Department) Murli Dhar told IANS. The three were arrested Saturday.

He said police were looking for two other accused, including the prime suspect.

The victim, a mother of two, had complained that she was raped at gunpoint Feb 6 inside a moving car. She lodged the complaint Feb 9.
