Himachal BJP to take call on errant MP within week
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) central leadership would within a week take a final call on the “anti-party” activities of its Himachal Pradesh MP Rajan Sushant, a party leader said here Wednesday.
“A decision against Sushant will be taken within a week,” BJP national general secretary J.P. Nadda told reporters here.
He said the state unit has apprised party president Nitin Gadkari about the activities and assertions of the parliament member from Kangra.
For quite some time, Sushant has been openly criticising Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal. He was axed from the party’s state executive council in May last year for demanding a narco-analysis test of Dhumal and his cabinet ministers over corruption.
A minister in the previous Dhumal government in 1998, Sushant has also threatened to issue a list of corrupt people occupying high positions in the state. He has even threatened to resign as an MP.
His son, Dhairya Sushant joined the Himachal Lokhit Party as chief of its youth wing. The Himachal Lokhit Party is a new political outfit launched this month by BJP dissidents led by four-time former MP Maheshwar Singh.
The BJP has been mulling action against Sushant for quite some time.
In August last year, in charge of the BJP’s affairs in the state Shyam Jaju had said here that action against Sushant would be taken soon.
