Suspected Maoist Blast on Gyaneshwari Express, 15 dead

13 coaches of Howrah-Kurla Lokmanya Tilak Gyaneshwari Super Deluxe Express derailed when suspected maoist triggered blast. 15 deaths are confirmed and more than 150 passengers were injured.

The blast took place in early morning at 1:30 am when train was running between Khemasoli and Sardiya stations, about 135 km from Kolkata. Some coaches were derailed and hit by good trains which passing by other track.

Railway Minister Mamata Banerjee, who reached to spot, announced Rs 5 lakh for the next of kin of each of the dead and Rs 1 lakh for the injured.
