Curfew remains in Srinagar, Anantnag, Shopian and other parts of Kashmir

Srinagar : Curfew remained imposed in Srinagar, Anantnag, Shopian and other parts of Kashmir as a 33-member all party delegation, headed by Union Home Minister P Chidambaram and comprising representatives from the mainstream political parties, arrived here Monday to assess the situation in Kashmir where 105 people died in violence since June 11.

?The preceding night passed off peacefully in the whole of valley Kashmir. Situation at this hour continues to remain normal and under control. So far, there are no reports of any untoward incident reported from any part of the Valley. Highway is open from Srinagar ? Jammu and Srinagar ? Uri,? said the Jammu and Kashmir Police.

Meanwhile, strict curfew restrictions continue to remain in place in Srinagar City, Warpora, Mirgund, Indra Gandhi Road, Nadirgund, Budgam town, Choon, Humhama, Wattdara, Gagoo, Ompora, Narkura, Sheikhpora, Galwanpora, Chadoora, Panzan, Nagam, Machawa, Kralpora, Wathora, Dawlatpora, Hassipora, Alamdar Colony, and Char-i-Sharief, in Budgam district, Kangan, Ganderbal, Anantnag, Mattan, Bijbehara, Kulgam town, Qoimoh, Pulwama town, Kakapora, in Pulwama district.

Shopian town, Tral, Awantipora, Lethpora, Pampore, Baramulla town, Delina, Kunzer, Tangmarg, Pattan, Singhpora, in Baramulla district, Sopore town, Ladoora Rafiabad, Kralpora, Trehgam, Kupwara town in Kupwara district, Handwara, Chotipora, Kulangam, Bandipora town, and Sumbal, in Bandipora district also remained under curfew.

Meanwhile, the delegation will meet the cross section of people and various political parties in Srinagar during its two-day visit before submitting its recommendation to the Centre for consideration by the cabine committee.

The decision to send a delegation, for the first time in two decades, was taken at an all-party meeting here last week, in which the PM stressed on feedback from the Kashmir people to chalk out strategy to tackle the unrest in the valley.
