New Delhi : The Delhi Police on Tuesday announced a cash prize for Sallem Ahmed, the young rickshaw puller who had chased the armed assailants involved in the Jama Masjid attack on Sunday.
The police has declared a cash award of Rs 25,000 for Saleem, who plies his rickshaw in the Old Delhi area.
Saleem had hurled stones at the armed gunmen and, along with a Delhi Police constable Pramod, had tried to stop the assailants from fleeing.
Two Taiwanese tourists were injured in the attack and are now recovering in a local hospital.
Meanwhile, Mumbai Police on Tuesday said they had detained two suspects for possible links with the attack.
The suspects were held for questioning in connection with the e-mail, purportedly sent by terror outfit Indian Mujahideen, owning responsibility for the shootout outside Jama Masjid on Sunday.
The e-mail was transmitted through a cell phone, which was purchased along with the Sim card in Mumbai by using a fake address.
Immediately after the shootout, an e-mail was transmitted to various newspaper houses, threatening to carry out similar attacks during the coming Commonwealth Games.
