Bangalore to host South India Equestrian Championship
Bangalore : The Equestrian Center for Excellence, among Bangalore?s premier horse sport organizations, along with the South India Equestrian Association (SIEA), will host the South India Equestrian Championship 2010 (SIEC 2010) from Friday to Sunday.
The SIEC 2010, among biggest equestrian events in India in terms of participation, will witness presence of some of the best horses and riders in India.
The key events will be Show Jumping, Dressage and the Derby, with participation across age groups from child riders to adult riders. The events are open for viewing to the general public.
The participating teams in the SIEC 2010 include ? ASC Center & College, Bangalore, Mysore Mounted Police, Embassy International Riding School (EIRS), Bangalore, Princess Academy of Equitation (PAE), Bangalore, Agram Riding and Polo Academy (ARPA), Bangalore, Madras Riding School (MRS), Chennai and RM Farms, Pollatchi.
Some of the top National Level riders taking part in SIEC 2010 will be ? Arun Mariba Shetty, of the Mysore Mounted Police, a 3-time National Grade-1 champion and recently honored with the Ekalavya Award, Nitin Gupta, current National Grade 2 champion, Nadia Haridass, member of the Indian Dressage Team for the 2010 Asian Games and Ajay Appachu, member of the Indian Eventing Team for the 2010 Asian Games.
Other prominent riders include Aliya Dasgupta, winner of the 2008 FEI Cat A Show Jumping and represented India in Chile for the World Finals, Fouad Mirza, U-18 National Champion and Maryk Sahney, National level winner and represented India in Germany in the Under-18 category.
