Mukhesh Ambani still richest Indian

Mumbai : Reliance Industries Limited’s boss Mukesh Ambani is worth of 27 billion Dollars, the richest man among the 1.1 billion Indians, Forbes magazine said.

RIL chairman Ambani has topped the list of 100 richest Indians for straight third year, pipping billionaires like L N Mittal and Azim Premji.

The combined net fortunes of India’s 100 richest people rose to billion Dollars this year from 276 billion Dollars last year, driven by the country’s booming economy and a rally in the stock market, the magazine said in its latest issue.

Though no one could overtake Mukesh in making money, the number of billionaires in India, however, rose to 69 this year, 17 upped from 2009 last year.

Ambani was closely followed by the steel maker Lakshmi Mittal, who retained his second position in the list with a net worth of 26.1 billion Dollars.
