Journalists mistreated by CWG committee

A number of journalists, covering inaugural ceremony of the ongoing Commonwealth Games (CWG), have been subjected to step-motherly treatment by the media committee of the event.

A large number of media persons were not provided accommodation at the media buses for transporting them to the Jawaharlal Nehru stadium. They had to make their way on their own amidst huge rush and waited in the huge queue for hours before they could find their way to the stadium along with other spectators.

Quite a few working media persons were denied passes to the usual box meant for the media persons covering the proceedings at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium. They were provided seats with the general spectators. There are no facilities which are usually provided to media persons. Even a power point was not available making it very difficult for the media to exercise their work.

While many media houses had a number of reporters who were given regular media box, a number of organizations which have deputed single correspondent to cover the event, were denied their places at the media box.
