Karnataka: Entry for rebel MLAs banned
After disqualifying sixteen legislators, Speaker K G Bopaih on Monday banned the rebels from entering the Assembly just hours ahead of the vote of confidence for beleaguered Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa.
The CM, who had been visiting temples since eleven BJP MLAs and five independent legislators wtihdrew to support to him on October 6, said he was confident about winning the support of majority of lawmakers.
Yeddyurappa said he has “the blessings of God.”
Janata Dal (Secular) leader H D Revanna accused Bopaiah and Yeddyurappa of conspiring and violating democratic tenets.
The Assembly secretariat displayed the list of MLAs disqualified with immediate effect under anti-defection laws. Amidst tight security all the legislators started arriving for the voting.
