London Olympics to take a cue from Delhi CWG?

One of the finest middle distance runners in the world, Sebastian Coe, praised the arrangements and facilities for the athletes at the ongoing Commonwealth Games (CWG) and infrastructural development of the city in this connection..

Coe, the only athlete to win the Olympic 1500 metre twice and the chief of the organizing committee of the London Olympic, felt there are a number of areas from which London could take a lead in improving its own delivery system.

Coe is now in Delhi to observe the ongoing Commonwealth Games.

The two areas, which attracted Coe the most, are Athletes? village and local transport infrastructure.

The famous British runner said: ?The idea to have the training venues close to the village is a very good planning. ?

?I spent a lot of time in Games Village and I spoke to different people from different countries. They are saying a lot of good things,? Coe said.

In a larger perspective, Coe finds legacy as the big beneficiary for the city from the Games. “These ideas are essential in the design details of what will be the Olympic Park for London 2012,” he said.

Coe mentioned: ?One of the things we can work quite closely is on legacy, which is going to be a challenge in sport. Look at the structural legacy which one will found quite profound. If you observe closely, you will find to what extend the city (Delhi) has developed during the last five years.”

Coe observed that though cricket is the overwhelming pastime in India, it is the CWG which will be making life easier for the citizens here.
