Pan Masalas must carry mandatory information
The government on Friday said Pan Masala packets must carry declarations like manufacturers’s name and address.
The Standards of Weights and Measures (Packaged Commodities) Rules, 1977 stipulates certain mandatory declaration like the name and address of the manufacturer, or where manufacturer is not packer, the name and address of the manufacturer and packer and for imported package the name and address of the importer, a Agriculture Ministry release informed on Friday.
In case information displayed on label is found to be incorrect, actions can be taken by State Government under the provisions under a number of Act, K V Thomas, Minister of State for Agriculture, Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution said in the Rajya Sabha on Friday.
He further said that Pan Masala and advertisement relating there of must carry the warning that ?Chewing of Pan Masala may be injurious to health?.
