Andhra Pradesh relief insufficient, late: BJP
Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) leader Venkaiah Naidu on Wednesday said that the Centre?s response to the devastation caused by the rains and cyclonic storms in Andhra Pradesh was ”too little and too late.”
He also termed the Rs 400 crore package released from the National Calamity Contingency Fund an “eyewash” since this amount was already due to the state from the disaster fund.
Naidu said that there is “utter confusion” in the scheme announced by the Food Corporation of India with regard to purchase of discoloured paddy.
He said that the packages announced by the state government so far are completely inadequate and has led to farmer suicides.
The party demanded an immediate meeting of the PM and other cabinet ministers to discuss the situation in Andhra Pradesh and initiate measures to mitigate the crisis.
