Seven die in fire in Tamil Nadu

At least seven workers were burnt alive and 15 others received burn injuries in a series of explosions at a firecracker factory in Tamil Nadu’s Virudhungar, police said Saturday.

They said the mishap happened on Friday at the fireworks factory at R.R. Nagar at Thiagarajapuram in Virudhunagar district.

The incident occurred after an accidental firing on the explosive materials, police added after an initial inquest with the factory workers.

The three among the injured were in critical condition at a hospital.

Two sheds were razed to the ground and three others damaged in the explosions and subsequent flames.
