Karnataka CM dares Revanna to prove benami property charges
Bangalore : Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yeddyurappa on Thursday dared Janata Dal (Secular) (JD-S) leader HD Revanna to prove allegations of benami property of the chief minister worth Rs 1000 crore.
Yeddyurappa said he will quit politics if Revanna can prove the charges.
?Let Revanna give me documentary evidence within 24 hours to prove his allegations. I will resign as Chief Minister and also take political sanyas,? Yeddyurappa was quoted as stating in media reports.
Yeddyurappa denied all allegations made by the JD-S leader and challenged Revanna to submit the documents to prove his charges to Lokayukta, the court or the chief minister himself.
He said Revanna?s allegations were attempts to malign his name.
Son of former prime minister HD Devegowda, Revanna had alleged on Wednesday that Yeddyurappa and his family has purchased benami property worth Rs 1,000 crore in Shimoga district and in and around Bangalore.
Revanna also claimed of having documentary evidence to prove his charges.
Yeddyurappa is also embroiled in another alleged land scam controversy and could be prosecuted in it after the Governor sanction prosecution, which has led to another major controversy between the chief minister and the Governor.
