The fine arts and dance lovers of the city will get a good opportunity to further sharpen their knowledge in the field as Pracheen Kala Kendra, Chandigarh has set up a cultural campus in Kolkata.
The centre will aim at propagating Indian music, dance and fine arts on large scale and in a scientific manner, the officials said.
?Since the Kendra has more than 2500 affiliated centres in West Bengal and other parts of Eastern region of India, therefore, the new premises would fulfil the long-felt need of our centre superintendents and also cater to the growing needs of student community as well as music fraternity?, Sajal Koser, Secretary of the Kendra, said on Wednesday.
Besides having 3,500 centres all over the nation, the Kendra also has its centres abroad in countries like USA, Canada, Britain, Singapore, Mauritius, Dubai, Kuwait, Nepal and Bangladesh for promoting Indian music, dance and fine arts.
In Kolkata, the Kendra will house its own cultural premises, where an art gallery will also be established.
The Kendra also plans to take up projects based on Tagore?s writings in the coming days.
