In India, fears are growing that runaway inflation could slowdown the brisk growth of its economy, which was among the fastest to recover from the global financial crisis. In particular, a huge rise in food prices has emerged as a major worry for a country with millions of poor people. And on the other hand Corruption is also a very big problem in front of India for the last so many years. These two problems are now prominent in India and our so called government is not doing enough to tackle either problem.
But my point is that WE the people of India is noticing this after 7 years. Till 2004 (from 1999) inflation was @ 4-5% and thereafter in some pretext or the other it has been what it has been.
Corruption is a disease which spread all over the India. It seems that this is the season of scams and the biggest ever corruption cases in India have been unearthed more recently.
Some top scams in India are
1)2G Spectrum Scam
We have had a number of scams in India; but none bigger than the scam involving the process of allocating unified access service licenses. At the heart of this Rs.1.76-lakh crore worth of scam is the former Telecom minister A Raja ? who according to the CAG, has evaded norms at every level as he carried out the dubious 2G license awards in 2008 at a throw-away price which were pegged at 2001 prices.
2) Commonwealth Games Scam
Another feather in the cap of Indian scandal list is Commonwealth Games Loot. Yes, literally a loot! Even before the long awaited sporting bonanza could see the day of light, the grand event was soaked in the allegations of corruption. It is estimated that out of Rs. 70000 crore spent on the Games, only half the said amount was spent on Indian sportspersons.
The Central Vigilance Commission, involved in probing the alleged corruption in various Commonwealth Games-related projects, has found discrepancies in tenders ? like payment to non-existent parties, will-ful delays in execution of contracts, over-inflated price and bungling in purchase of equipment through tendering ? and misappropriation of funds.
And also so many cases like Bofors scam, Telgi scam, Satyam scam, the fodder scam, IPL scam.
After seeing these cases I felt India doesn?t need a terrorist or robbers from outside we have already many of them.
There is a Synovate mood of the nation survey is done by the TIMES OF INDIA , a global market research agency, polled almost 2,500 respondents in Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Banglore , Hyderabad, Ahmedabad and Lucknow and covered people from socio-economic categories A, B and C. According to this survey people are very angry with the government and all feel that now inflation and corruption have breached the limit of tolerance.
According to the survey 86% people blame Centre and state govts for inflation, 60% people feel politicians main culprits, 96% people say central govt’s image damaged by spate of scam.
Now we have to do something to stop these bigger problems.
