Court Vacations, should have re-look

Long summer vacations in courts were designed by erstwhile British rulers to save British judges in India from severe hot weather of this country and also to facilitate them to visit their homeland in England.

These continue in free India even after six decades of independence. It is quite usual that courts announce holidays on such working days which are in between holidays to get a continuous stretch of holidays apart from extra-long summer-vacations, and long Christmas, Dussehra and Diwali holidays.

Supreme Court should have a re-look on pattern of court-holidays in the country. When no other section of people including also government-employees get such privilege of long summer and other vacations, it is unfair that those in courts may have luxury of long vacations designed by Britishers continued in free India.

Also pattern of vacations should be uniform from Apex Court to lower courts.
