Letter to SC Judges : Good stand taken

Supreme Court judges GS Sanghvi and AK Ganguly took a right stand when they refused to become part of a conspirated attempt to delay proceedings in 2-G spectrum case because of the anonymous letter reached to Supreme Court Chief Justice with baseless allegations of bench having been managed. Obviously it was tactics to delay the proceedings because at times honest judges recuse themselves from hearing the case thus causing the delay in proceedings as actually desired by the conspirator-alligator.

However episode reminds of Madras High Court judge R Raghupati having said in open court about a Union Minister having approached him putting a pre-condition to not reveal identity of the minister in case the concerned minister tendered apology. Several honest judges are also found to transfer cases on being approached. In such cases of approach and influence, it should be administratively compulsory for every judge to bring on judicial record all such cases of influences and approaches with criminal action initiated against those approaching or influencing judges. Mere transfer of cases or seeking apology is not enough.
