Librahan committee report

Librahan Committee Report and subsequent Action Taken Report prepared by Union Home Ministry are both eye-wash on the complete matter with no concrete result possible out of these, now after seventeen years of the incident. As usual, findings of so-termed ?Judicial Panel? this time is also labelled as political.

We may recall two separate Judicial Panels one constituted by Modi-government in Gujarat and second by the then Union Railway Minister Laloo Yadav on infamous Godhra-Train-Burning and riots thereafter. Findings of two panels were in tune with requirements of political rulers having appointed these. Same has happened in case of Librahan Committee Report having no comments on role of the then Prime Minister PV Narsimharao who interestingly was given credit for demolition of Babri-structure by Shankaracharya Jayendra Saraswati on occasion of golden jubilee of his ascension even in presence of top political leadership of the country including Sonia Gandhi, R Venkatraman, PV Narsimharao, Rangnath Mishra, Atal Bihari Vajpayee and others!

To ensure dignity of the term ?Judicial Panels?, these should be constituted by a high level Judicial Commission having retired Supreme Court judges as member-nominees of President, Prime Minister, Chief Justice of India, Opposition Leader and President of Bar Body with Chief Vigilance Commissioner as its ex-officio member.
