Naming roads and institutions

Names of roads in cities should be simple and short so that abbreviation in common use may not be needed. For example in Delhi, it would have been better if Kasturba Gandhi Marg (popularly abbreviated as KG Marg) would have been named Kasturba Marg. Likewise naming LNJP Hospital simply as Loknayak Hospital would have kept memory of Loknayak Jaiprakash Narain in more appropriate manner. Further there is a wrong practice of translating even popular nouns as is done in case of Sansad Marg which is also called Parliament Street. It should be tried to avoid renaming of historical names quite familiar to users. For instance there was no logic in renaming Flagstaff Marg. Tradition of knowing roads and streets as ?Marg? in Delhi should be retained like Kolkata uses ?Sarani, Chennai as ?Salai? and Mumbai as ?Street?!

There are too many Arjun Nagars and Krishna Markets in the city. Further there are similarly named colonies like Pratap Nagar and Rana Pratap Bagh causing confusion to everyone. Duplicate naming should be done away by giving new names to roads, colonies, markets and other places having similar or same names.

System of naming colonies and roads inside them should be named like in Defence Colony and Chanakyapuri where streets are named in tune with name of the colony. Every effort should be made for naming in Indian languages avoiding use of English.
