Mamta Banerjee is perhaps the only grass-root leader of a regional party (Trinmool Congress) which can be expected to be a selfless Chief Minister. Except Mamta Banerjee, every other regional ally in UPA government at the centre had set terms and bargained hard to get more ministerial berths and most-wanted portfolios in Dr Manmohansingh government. Mamta Banerjee as Chief Minister of Bengal should set new ideals not only for other states, but even at central level.
She should impose a total ban on putting photos of living personalities including of self and other ministers in government-advertisements. She should abolish Legislative Council in the state which is nothing but an unnecessary financial burden to rehabilitate favourites of political leaders. She should stop sirens red-light blinkers on roof-tops of cars for all (including ministers) except emergency-vehicles like ambulances, police-vans and fire-brigade. Austerity should be the ?mantra? for her dream-vision of ?maa?, ?maati? and ?manush?. All such aspects should be given due publicity so that people in other parts of the country may force selfish political rulers to follow the same. She should also move fast to rename the state simply as ?Bangla? to remove confusing prefix ?West? in eastern state of the country because after pre-independence ?East bengal? already named as Bangladesh, it is senseless to still know the state as ?West Bengal?.
