It should be hoped that master-blaster Sachin Tendulkar remembers his words after taking oath as Rajya Sabha member that he will do equally for uplift of all sports and not only cricket which made him reach to India’s ‘House of Lords’.
Sachin should also ensure that sports-persons from other games may be treated and awarded equally at par with cricketers also to bridge the large gap of social and economic disparity between cricketers and other sports-persons.
Views of Sachin Tendulkar now as member of law-making legislature on Sports Bill as drafted by Union Sports Ministry will be crucial in this regard, which will practically bring accountability and transparency in affairs of Board for Control of Cricket in India (BCCI) presently monopolized as family-property by some individuals including influential politicians and Union ministers.
