Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has taken a welcome initiative to launch its first six-coach train on Dwarka-Anand Vihar route with its plan to gradually increase such six-coach trains on other routes also. But to get maximum revenue-earning in same installation and operational cost, need is to introduce trains with maximum capacity of eights coaches because whole system including platforms are constructed to accommodate eight-coach trains. This will enable metro-trains to have two ladies-exclusive coaches, one in the beginning and the other in the end. Life-span of present metro-system is planned to be just 30 years ideally. Therefore it is of no sense to waste even a single month by not fully utilising optimum capacity of eight coaches per train. DMRC should have priority on investing new coaches for the purpose rather than investing on new lines.
