Ex-IFS Officer of Vyapam Tests Found Dead

Bhubaneswar, Oct 17: According to a media report on Saturday,  a former Indian Forest Service (IFS) officer and observer for the Vyapam recruitment tests was found dead on a railway track in Odisha’s Jharsuguda district on Thursday.

Vijay Bahaudur served as an observer for the Vyapam recruitment tests. He and his wife Nita Singh  were travelling from Puri in Odisha to Bhopal in Madhya Pradesh by the Puri-Jodhpur Express.

Superintendent Railway Police (Rourkela) Karam Sey Kawar told IANS over phone that prima facie it seems that Bahadur accidentally fell off the running train and died.

However, the official said that the actual cause of death would be confirmed after the post mortem report that is available with the Government Railway Police.

“We are investigating into the matter even though no FIR was filed by the family members at our police station,” said Kawar. He also added that the family took the dead body with them after the autopsy.

Police sources said Nita Singh reported that her husband had gone missing to the ticket checker (TTE) of the train when the train reached Raigarh station, that is about 70 km away from Jharsuguda district.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has so far registered over 80 first information reports and launched over 10 preliminary inquiries into the Vyavsayik Pariksha Mandal (Vyapam), or the Madhya Pradesh Professional Examination Board (MPPEB) scam.

Involving several admission-cum-recruitment irregularities, the scam has 40 deaths linked to it till now.
