Trinamool Congress leader Madan Mitra’s bail cancelled

Kolkata: The Calcutta High Court grant CBI’s plea for cancellation of bail of Saradha chit fund scam accused. The accused is a senior Trinamool Congress leader Madan Mitra. The bail was cancelled after accused was in 11 months arrest.

Although, bail was granted by the lower court,but it was cancelled after High Court order.

The division bench of Justice Nishita Mhatre and Justice Tapas Mukherjee also asked Mitra to surrender before a lower court immediately in compliance of the order.

The development came a day after Mitra quit as West Bengal transport and sports minister, apparently to blunt the Central Bureau of Investigation’s argument that his continuation in the cabinet was a proof of his immense influence despite being indicted and jailed in the multi-crore-rupee scam.

The CBI subsequently moved the high court seeking cancellation of the bail.

Following the CBI’s move against the bail, the high court subsequently ordered that Mitra be kept under house confinement till the disposal of the matter.
