Approximate earnings of Indian Railways revenue earnings up by 6.07%

New Delhi : The total approximate earnings of Indian Railways on originating basis during the period from 1st to 10th September, 2010 were Rs. 2293.41 crore compared to Rs. 2162.08 crore during the same period last year, registering an increase of 6.07 per cent.

The total goods earnings have gone up from Rs. 1458.79 crore during the period from 1st to 10th September 2009 to Rs. 1502.80 crore during 1st September ? 10th September 2010, showing an increase of 3.02 per cent.

The total passenger revenue earnings during the period 1st to 10th September 2010 were Rs 705.88 crore compared to Rs. 625.28 crore during the same period last year, reflecting an increase of 12.89 per cent.

The revenue earnings from other coaching amounted to Rs. 66.27 crore during this period compared to Rs. 59.43 crore during the same period last year, showing an increase of 11.51 per cent.

The total approximate numbers of passengers booked during the period 1st to 10th September 2010 were 214.58 million compared to 208.37 million during the same period last year, showing an increase of 2.98 per cent.

In the suburban and non-suburban sectors, the numbers of passengers booked during 1st to 10th September, 2010 were 113.24 million and 101.34 million compared to 115.05 million and 93.32 million during the same period last year, registering a decrease of 1.57 per cent and an increase of 8.59 per cent respectively.
