BMW India has just announced to roll out all-new 2013 BMW 6 Series Gran Coupe in the Indian market on 8 November 2012.
The 6-Series, which is traditionally a two-door offering has now going to be the first four-door coupe in BMW’s history with seating for 4+1 people. The 2013 BMW 6-Series Gran Coupe was first seen at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show.
The 2013 6-Series has been blessed with typical BMW styling cues like, Kidney Grille, Twin Barrel headlights with Corona rings and sloping roofline etc. which also make it look like a sedan. There are a few changes along with the two additional doors that make it different from the 6-series Coupe and Convertible; however rest of the car looks identical to these.
The car has the dimensions with a length of 5,007mm and a wheelbase of 2,968mm, the Gran Coupe is 111mm longer than its 2-door coupe sibling. A significant part of this extra length has been used to enhance seating comfort for the rear passengers. The BMW 6 Series Gran Coupe is also 1,894 mm wide and stands 1,392mm in height. For comparison purposes, the Gran Coupe is 102mm longer, 34mm wider and 72mm lower than the BMW 550i.
BMW India might launch the BMW 6 Series Gran Coupe in its diesel avatar only. Under the hood Gran Coupe 640d is expected to sport a 3.0-litre diesel engine that produces a peak power output of 313PS at 4400rpm with a peak torque of 630Nm at 1500-2500rpm and will come mated to an 8-speed auto transmission. BMW claims that this machine can reach 0-100 kmph in a quick 5.4 seconds.
We are also expecting the petrol version of BMW 6 Series Gran Coupe 650i, which is powered by a 4.4 litre V8 petrol motor by the end of 2013. In the Indian market, the BMW 6-Series Gran Coupe will compete with the likes of Mercedes Benz CLS, Audi A7 and the Porsche Panamera.
