Export grows 23.2% in Sept: Commerce secy

India?s exports have registered a growth of 23.2% during September 2010, at US $ 18.02 billion, said Commerce Secretary Rahul Khullar here on Monday.

Addressing a press interaction, Khullar informed that during the period April-September 2010, exports have reached a level of US $ 103.3 billion at a growth of 27.6% while the imports were US $ 166.5 billion with a growth of 29.9% with a trade deficit of US $ 63.2 billion. During the interaction, Shri Khullar informed that India?s imports in September 2010 were US $ 27.14 billion, up by 26.1%.

?As we have already achieved a level of US $ 103.3 billion, we are on course to achieve the target of US $ 200 billion during the financial year 2010-11,” said Khullar.

The Commerce Secretary further said that some sectors have done well viz., engineering, gems & jewellery, readymade garments, marine products, leather & leather products.
