International Conference on Automotive Materials & Manufacturing Inaugurated

The Union Minister of Ministry of Heavy Industries & Public Enterprises, Shri Vilasrao Deshmukh has said that it is essential that all the stakeholders, be it the suppliers or the Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs), need to work together in synergy for effective development of newer materials, designs and technology and their early adoption for the benefit of the society. Sh. Vilasrao Deshmukh was today inaugurating the International Conference on Automotive Materials & Manufacturing – AM&M 2010 in association with Volkswagen India Pvt Ltd. and VelTech Dr. RR & Dr. SR Technical University at the Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI) premises in Pune. The Conference is supported by the Deptt. of Heavy Industry, Ministry of Heavy Industries & Public Enterprises, Government of India and NATRIP.

The 3-day International Conference, AM&M 2010 ? with its theme of ?Sustainable Nobility through Materials and Manufacturing?, provides knowledge sharing and networking platform where the eminent experts from industry, academia and research institutes will deliver keynotes and technical papers on trends and recent advances in these areas. The exposition, AM&M Expo 2010, being organized concurrently, showcases latest products and technological advancements from leading organizations.

The Forging Industry Division at ARAI has been set up at by the Deptt. of Heavy Industry for catering to the needs of the forging industry which has major linkages with the auto industry. The institute has been created to take care of all the issues related to forging materials and its manufacturing processes. One of the prime objectives of Deptt. of Heavy Industry in setting up of this center was that all the knowledge in the areas of forging material and process should be available ?under one roof? for the benefit of the industry.
