L&T to bring back employees from Japan

L&T Infotech has made arrangements to bring all the 185 L&T Group employees and their family members from Japan for a temporary period, the company said on Wednesday.

Kingfisher Airlines has been contracted for operating a special flight on Mar 17 from Narita, Tokyo airport to Chennai, India, L & T said in a media release.

IT giants like Infosys also earlier informed it was pulling back its employees from Japan, now facing a nuclear disaster after explosions in the reactors and radiation leak.

Infosys has around 350 employees in Japan, but it said on Tuesday all of them will be back in a day or two.

According to reports from Japan, a containment vessel may have ruptured in the Fukushima nuclear plant and is leaking radioactive steam in a quake-struck atomic plant, authorities there said on Wednesday, as TV footage showed thick plumes of steam emanating from the Unit 2 reactor.
