Maruti Suzuki India is all set launch new Maruti Alto 800 on October 16. As per word on the street, new Maruti Alto 800 is likely to be priced at below Rs 2 lakh to compete with the Tata Nano and the Hyundai EON. Maruti Suzuki is taking this step to regain the small car market as the sales of its existing Alto have been dropped by 34.8% in current fiscal. It is also expected that MSI will phase out existing Alto. CarDekho has already reported that the all-new Maruti Suzuki Alto 800 has reached the dealerships already and the booking might start any time soon.
Like we earlier told you that the Alto 800 will be carrying the similar engine and the platform as the outgoing Alto. The three cylinder engine having capacity of 796cc, 3-cylinder, 12-valve petrol engine mated to a five-speed manual transmission the all new Alto 800 will churn out the maximum of 47bhp and is likely to return a mileage of 22.74kmpl, which is 15% more than the outgoing Alto. Moreover, the MSI is also launching the CNG variant of the Alto 800 to provide a more economical fuel option to buyers, for CNG kit, one will have to additionally pay around Rs 30-40k.
The new Alto 800 is better in terms of appearance and features, it has certainly come out as a sporty and a better looking car having the two-part grille, high positioned headlights like A-star, power windows, Dual SRS air-bags and this time the plastic quality of the interior too has got better. The launch date of the car has been scheduled during the festive season, which further increased its chances to become a big hit.
