Maruti WagonR Diesel is Creating Buzz

There is news coming from different sources that the India’s largest and beloved car manufacturer Maruti Suzuki India is working on diesel variant of its one of the most popular car : Wagon R, ‘the tall boy’.

We are expecting this car by mid 2013. Recently Maruti Suzuki launched the next gen avatar of its people’s car : Maruti Alto, is trying to lure more and more mass segment buyers to sustain its thorn in country.

Indian automobile market is a very crucial one, when it comes to pricing and mileage thus the more choices in mass segments will help company to attract number of customers sure and a diesel engine is age’s demand too.

The other companies are also working on their mass appeal vehicles along with compact vehicles to get a bigger share in Indian market. If we talk about Maruti Suzuki India alone, it has got the maximum budget cars in its portfolio, and is now working on various new budget cars that includes Alto K10 facelift, new age WagonR and some more. It is also working on a 800cc diesel engine, which might power many of its entry-level car to make them even more fuel efficient.

Under the hood, Maruti Suzuki WagonR diesel will have a 1000cc diesel mill, on which Fiat is currently working on for MSI. If we are not wrong then this will be a 3-cylinder avatar of 1.3 DDiS engine, which is also a Fiat engine and doing duty in many premium hatchbacks in country including Maruti Ritz and Swift.

In fact Maruti Suzuki India’s Managing Director has recently given hints about the same in a statement, which reads as “At the moment, we have a 1.3-liter diesel engine. Fiat is working on 1000 cc engines also. We don’t know the timeline, but surely, we will get these for our smaller cars.”

We are expecting that with this 1.0-litre engine the all new Maruti Suzuki WagonR Diesel is likely to offer the mileage close to 25kmpl, however nothing on the specifications and other details have been disclosed by the company as of now.

Hyundai i10 Diesel is also on in its last phases and the car is likely to launch by early-2013, so it will be interesting to see that which car will win the hearts in this segment.
