M&M in talks with four firms for solar powered UPS
With the home uninterrupted power systems’ (UPS) market turning very competitive following the entry of foreign players, auto major Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd (M&M) plans to come out with solar recharged inverters with a tie-up, said a senior official.
Speaking to reporters here Thursday after launching the company’s high power range of UPS (2.5-5 kVA) and battery P. Palaniappan, business head, Mahindra Powerol, said: “We are looking at solar rechargeable inverters/batteries. We are testing some prototypes and are talking with four companies for technology tie-ups.”
According to him, the company was looking at bringing down the product cost which was 10 times higher than the conventional UPS inverters/batteries.
M&M ventured into the UPS business in 2010.
According to Palaniappan, the prospects for UPS business this year were good as compared to last year when the power situation was better in many states.
