The total approximate earnings of Indian Railways on originating basis during the period from 1st to 10th December, 2010 were Rs. 2481.66 crore compared to Rs. 2307.12 crore during the same period last year, registering an increase of 7.57 per cent.
The total goods earnings have gone up from Rs. 1589.83 crore during the period from 1st to 10th December 2009 to Rs. 1659.58 crore during 1st December ? 10th December 2010, showing an increase of 4.39 per cent.
The total passenger revenue earnings during the period 1st to 10th December 2010 were Rs 724.74 crore compared to Rs. 644.32 crore during the same period last year, showing an increase of 12.48 per cent. The revenue earnings from other coaching amounted to Rs. 67.42 crore during this period compared to Rs. 57.50 crore during the same period last year, showing a decrease of 17.25 per cent.
The total approximate numbers of passengers booked during the period 1st to 10th December 2010 were 219.19 million compared to 226.10 million during the same period last year, showing a decrease of 3.06 per cent.
In the suburban and non-suburban sectors, the numbers of passengers booked during 1st to 10th December, 2010 were 116.55 million and 102.64 million compared to 123.90 million and 102.20 million during the same period last year, registering a decrease of 5.93 per cent and an increase of 0.43 per cent respectively.
