Mumbai : Making it the first for an Indian power utility, Reliance Infrastructure (RInfra), has been re-accredited with an ISO 27001 certification for its power distribution business.
According to a company release here Monday, the re-certification will be valid till 2015.
“The certification will now be extended to the company’s other businesses namely roads and metro which are undergoing audits for the same,” the release said.
ISO 27001 is an Information Security Management System (ISMS), which is the most widely recognized information security standard in the world. The system relates to guidelines governing risk assessment, security design and implementation, security management and reassessment.
It also ensures the security of information and strives to maintain privacy, reliability and availability of data to all stakeholders.
RInfra had first received the certification in 2007, making it the first power utility to be so certified in India.
According to the company, the British Standards Institute did a thorough audit of various IT processes at several locations and departments of the company before awarding the ISO 27001 certification.
