Tata Communications signs technology deal with Formula One
Tata Communications Thursday struck a deal with Formula One motor racing to be its technology partners for the 20-races of the 2012 season.
Tata Communications has signed a multi-year technology service and marketing agreement with Formula One Management. The deal will see the Indian company delivering world-class connectivity to all race locations besides providing hosting and content delivery services to Formula1.com, the sport’s official website.
“Formula 1 requires fast and secure connectivity, because even a split second of downtime can have huge repercussions for its business, brand and reputation,” Vinod Kumar, managing director and CEO of Tata Communications was quoted as saying on F1’s official website, which is accessed by millions of people during the season.
“This delivery is at the heart of our organisation and working with one of the world’s most highly technical and innovative organisations is an exciting opportunity for Tata Communications.”
F1 supremo Bernie Ecclestone added: “I welcome Tata Communications into the Formula 1 family and I hope this is the start of a long and successful relationship. This is a collaboration that will help us stay at the technological cutting edge in these categories.”
