Tata Power Energy Club wins gold

Tata Power Energy Club, an Energy Conservation Club, has bagged a gold medal in the Environmental Communication category at the Association of Business Communicators of India Golden Jubilee Annual Awards recently.

Tata Power Energy Club was adjudged the winning entry in a category which had entries from several companies across the country.

The other category winners were Tata Chemicals Limited, Indian Oil Corporation Limited, Larsen & Toubro, Kirloskar Brothers and ACC Limited.

The award was presented by Jitender Bhargava ? Former Director Communications, Air India.

Tata Power started its school outreach programme ?Tata Power Energy Club? in 2007.

In 2010, Tata Power Energy Club has already sensitized over two lakh children across 200 schools nationwide.

These children have further reached out to more than 1 lakh people, taking the total sensitisation figure to more than three lakh citizens.

Prasad Menon, Managing Director, Tata Power said, ?Sustainability is a key mission for us. I am overwhelmed at the growth achieved by the programme and pleased by the enthusiasm shown by the young minds in embracing the cause and spreading the message of energy conservation.?

As of date, there are more than 250 Energy Champions and 10,000 Energy Ambassadors. The Energy Champions have collectively saved 30,000 units of electricity.
