CarDekho has already reported Volkswagen India’s plans to bringing in a refreshed Polo and Vento soon and today German automobile major, Volkswagen India has announced new value added features with cut-off in the prices as well for its most popular entry level cars; Volkswagen Polo and Vento.
The top-end variants of the cars will come with add-on features like Bluetooth connectivity, alloy wheels, navigation system with rear view camera and RCD music system amongst others; and will cost Rs. 20,000 to Rs. 50,000 lesser than the existing Highline trims.
Company willing to target middle-class mass territory buyers by this price cut off and refreshing as the festive season is also on the corner. On this occasion, Arvind Saxena, managing director, Volkswagen Passenger Cars said, “Both Polo and Vento have been in the market for close to three years, so we are refreshing them with an aim to offer value to the customers. The introduction of new features in Polo and Vento will further excite the customers as both the carlines will offer much more value now.”
He further added, “With the steep depreciation in rupee, VW may resort to minor price increases in some of its models going ahead.???
Volkswagen will start sales of the refreshed car lines by second half of September through all its 108 dealerships across the country.
The Volkswagen Polo petrol Highline variant will now come at a price of Rs 5.84 lakh as against Rs 6.24 lakh currently. While the diesel variant will now available at a reduced price of Rs 6.94 lakh from the current price of 7.36 lakh, (ex-showroom, Delhi). The Vento petrol Highline variant prices have come down by 20,000 to Rs 9.97 lakh for the automatic transmission variant, Highline MT prices have reduced to Rs 8.74 lakh from previous Rs 8.95 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). On the other hand, the Vento diesel Highline variant price will come down to Rs 9.89 lakh from the current price of Rs 10.20 lakh.
The top end, Highline variants of Polo and Vento constitutes 40-60% of the overall sales of these cars, thus the cut-off prices and add-on features will help VW to pump of overall sales of these vehicles. Volkswagen India sold 78,408 units in 2011, Arvind Saxena commented on the same that it is extremely difficult to forecast the sales numbers, but said the company will try and attain last year’s sales number and hope to garner over 3% market share for 2012.
