The 2012 Volkswagen Touareg, which showcased at the 2012 Indian Auto Expo earlier this year, is finally ready for its Indian debut. Volkswagen India has updated its website and uploaded all the information about the car that indicated its launch anytime soon. We have got confirmation that SUV has already reached to the showrooms across the country and we are just waiting for the official launch to be announced. Volkswagen has already revealed the ex-showroom price and the car will be available at Rs. 57.86 lakh (Ex-showroom, Mumbai). The SUV will be a flagship product of the German carmaker and will sit right at the top of its Indian stable.
Volkswagen Touareg is known for its off-roading capabilities globally and much admired for water wading capacity of up to 500mm. The SUV will be equipped with the V6, 3.0-litre turbo diesel engine also does duty in the Audi A6, Q7 and Q5. The powerful mill of the car will come mated to an 8-speed automatic gearbox, which is capable of delivering maximum power output of 240bhp along with a peak torque of 550Nm. The car will be equipped with 4WD option as standard.
The car has been bestowed with superior looks; it comes with bi-xenon headlamps, daytime LED running lamps, electric sunroof and roof rails. The dimensions of the vehicle are 4795mm in length, 1940mm in width, 1709mm in height along with a wheelbase of 2904mm. Further, with a ground clearance of 205mm. As all other Volkswagen cars, the Touareg also have better-quality interiors, the car gets posh leather interiors including leather wrapped steering along with a 4-zone automatic climate control system, ornamental wood centre console, premium multi-function display etc. The driver seat of the will get a 14-way adjustable driver’s seat, while the front seats will also come with memory functions. The Cruise Control, electric parking brake, park distance control, keyless locking and starting system will be the standard features in this car.
