Ghaziabad : About 14 kilos of gold in rod shaped, worth Rs 1.5 crore in clandestine market, were seized from the possession of four persons from a railway station here, police on Thursday said.
Vinod Kumar Gautam of Railway Protection Force (RPF) and Raj Kumar of Government Railway Police (GRP) confiscated the yellow metal from four courier agents from the local railway station late Wednesday.
The courier agents were heading for Saharanpur from Noida when Gautam and Kumar, the two constables, forced them to pass through the metal detectors, and arrested the duo for carrying gold without vaild papers.
The gold rods were found in two aluminium boxes during checking.
In another crime an advocate was shot at by unidentified men at Karhera village near here.
Advocate Virender Singh Chauhan (62) was returning home from court when miscreants shot at him wounding critically on Wednesday night.
Chauhan’s wife, Pushpa has accused the advocate’s elder brother for the attack and has lodged a complaint in Shahibabad police station, police said.
Pushpa alleged that Chauhan was shot at following a property dispute among the brothers.
