Three youths returning from party killed in Delhi accident
Three youths were killed and two of their friends critically wounded while returning from a party in the wee hours Tuesday when their speeding Mitsubishi Lancer rammed into the rear of a stationary bus in south Delhi’s Saket area, police said.
The incident took place around 4 a.m. in Hauz Rani between Malviya Nagar Metro Station and Max Hospital.
Akash Sharma, his cousin Vikash Sharma and Mayank Pratap Singh Chauhan died on the spot while Vipul Garg and Vikas Bareva are recuperating in Max hospital.
“All the friends, in the age group 18-22 years, were returning in one of their friend’s Nikhil Deswal’s, maroon Mitsubishi Lancer car – -bearing registration number DL7CA2251 — from a party at a Chhattarpur farmhouse,” said a senior police officer.
The official said the car was heading towards Select Citywalk mall.
“At the time of accident, their car was reportedly moving at more than 100 kmph. As soon as they crossed Malviya Nagar Metro Station, they overtook a Mahindra Xylo car and then their vehicle rammed into the rear of a bus parked ahead on the road” said the officer.
The Xylo car driver, Mohammed Sarin, eyewitness to the accident, dragged two of them out of the car and rushed them to the nearby hospital with the help of locals.
The deceased were from Chhattisgarh while Garg is from Haryana’s Yamuna Nagar. The deceased were later taken to All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Trauma Center for postmortem.
The youth were studying in various undergraduate courses and were living as paying guests in different areas in the city.
“Akash who lived in east Delhi’s Lakshmi Nagar was pursuing C.A. final year course. Vipul who also lives in Lakshmi Nagar is also pursuing C.A. course. Bareva, B.Com student, lives in South Delhi’s Madangir and Vikas, C.A. student, lived in R.K. Puram area. While Chauhan, a B.A. student, lived in Malviya Nagar,” added the officer.
